I found a place in Studio City! Home of CBS, and Universal Studios, and home of The Brady Bunch.
Just off the never-ending expanse of Target, Ralph's, Starbucks, and BedBathAndBeyond, otherwise known as Ventura Boulevard.
Mere steps from some of the best sushi in LA. And all the 12-step programs you could ever want.

Summary: LAPTOP CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE RUNNING SOFTWARE
Description:
To repeat:
1. Install and launch the software when prompted.
2. Run it for a while.
Note the LCD screen turns white and a static sound emanates from the
speakers.
Wait a moment, and grey smoke appears out of the back of the battery
compartment. An acrid smell fills the air.

Part 2:
lornamatic: mike and I were on the phone with dell for about an hour and a
half
albtrssp: were they trying to troubleshoot it?
lornamatic: no, it caught on fire
lornamatic: there wasn't much to troubleshoot
albtrssp: 'turn on the machine holding down F4'
albtrssp: 'uhh, the machine caught on fire'
albtrssp: 'ok, then try the boot disk'
albtrssp: 'uhh, the machine caught fire'
lornamatic: LOLOL
albtrssp: 'hmm...did you install any software recently?'
albtrssp: 'no, the laptop caught fire'
albtrssp: :-)
albtrssp: 'let me check with my manager'
albtrssp: 'we need you to run this diagnostic software on your
machine...it'll take three days to run, so call us back when it's done'
albtrssp: it seems that once you can finally wade through the seven planes
of dell tech support hell, they'll take care of you

Crazy busy the last few weeks with shipping software. Despite the hell week, we managed to get out for some fun including Hollywood Boulevard and Melrose and a great day in Malibu and Beverly Hills.
Next order of business - an LA apartment, so I can get off this dang couch.
